27April 2012- The latest calculations show that Kosova’s Energetic Corporation (alb. KEK) is continuing to breach local and international regulations on air pollution. According to the latest calculations made by KEK itself, the corporation has continued with air pollution beyond allowed standards during the first three months of the year. “The situation continues to be worrisome because of the emissions with dust, S02 and NOx from plants A and B”, the Executive Chief of KEPA Ilir Morina said.

According to the results, the dust pollution at plant A during January and February was up to 12 time higher, while in March it reached up to 14 times higher than allowed standards. At the plan B dust emissions were 6 times higher that allowed by the standards.

When it comes to the S02 emissions, pollution by plant A was 1.5 higher than allowed by the standards. An increase of the emissions is detected from January until March. The situation is even worst at plant B, as during the March the emissions by S02 were 2 times higher than allowed by the standards. The NOx emissions at plant A were 1 times higher and at plant B they reached to 1.5 higher than allowed by standards.
