14 05 2012  -  The Kosovo Environmental ProtectionAgency (KEPA) and the Association for Protection of Birds, the NGO “ FINCH”, marked the International Day of Migratory Birds, entitled: “MigratoryBirds and people, , together through time”. Different activities on theoccasion were organized, including a march for observing of birds nearby theLake of Brezna, Dragash municipality, organized by the NGO “FINCH” from Prizrentown.  At the central activity, organizedin Prishtina, at the governmental building, the promotion of the book “Insearch of birds” of authors Nexhmedin Ramadani and Ismet Lecaj also took place.

At the promotion of the book, officials from institutionsand non-governmental associations made their messages aimed at better awarenessof the citizens over the links between birds and people.  The ExecutiveChief of KEPA, Dr. Sc. Ilir Morina said that birds are important indicators ofthe quality of environment of a country, therefore information andacquaintances over their spreading are important, adding that protection of thenature and biodiversity is closely linked with protection of birds.

 “The Directive on Birds is an important pillars of theEuropean Union legislation over biodiversity and we need scientific informationfor its effective implementation”, Mr. Morina said.  The authors of the book, Nexhmedin Ramadaniand Ismet Lecaj, said that their publication offers information over many kindof wild birds of Kosovo, associated with original pictures made by the authorsthemselves. There are even poetry dedicated to the birds which makes the bookto be understood easier not only by adults but also by children. The book waswelcomed by other participants at the promotion and was qualified as unique onededicated  to birds of Kosovo.
